Profile
SSSRA Day Camp offers an atmosphere where campers have fun, experience social interaction with camp mates, and develop skills such as sportsmanship and increased independence. The South Suburban Special Recreation Association provides specialized recreational programming for individuals with disabilities throughout the south suburban Chicago area.
Day Camp activities include sports, games, crafts, singing, dancing, food creations, playtime, swimming, and field trips. The camp operates at multiple locations including Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center in Tinley Park, Matteson Memorial Park, and Oak Forest Community Center. Camps are organized by age groups: Mini Marvels (ages 2-8), Junior Justice League (ages 9-13), and Amazing Avengers (ages 14-22).
The program runs for multiple two-week sessions throughout the summer from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. SSSRA also offers After Camp programming in early August for continued summer fun before school begins. Special events include Meet the Staff Night and Parent Day/All Camp Day celebration. Transportation services are available, and the organization provides scholarships to ensure accessibility for all families. Registration is available online with session-specific deadlines.
