The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry is the largest science center in the Western Hemisphere, offering visitors an extraordinary journey through science, technology, and innovation. Located on Chicago’s lakefront, this iconic museum features over 35,000 artifacts and 14 acres of interactive exhibits that engage visitors of all ages.
Guests can explore world-class permanent exhibitions including the U-505 Submarineโthe only German submarine in the United States, the Henry Crown Space Center with Apollo 8 spacecraft, and the Science Storms exhibit showcasing natural phenomena. The museum also hosts rotating special exhibitions such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Beyond Amazing and Crafting Character: The Costumes of Paul Tazewell.
The museum offers spectacular shows in the Giant Dome Theater, Chicago’s only five-story domed wraparound theater. Educational programs include camps and workshops for children in grades K-12 during summer, winter break, spring break, and weekends. These hands-on STEM camps allow young scientists to explore topics from space exploration to game design, with all supplies provided.
