Profile
Instituto Cervantes Chicago offers comprehensive Spanish language programs for children and teenagers through their CervantesKids program. As the largest international Spanish teaching organization in the world, established by the Spanish government, the Instituto operates 70 centers worldwide with an internationally recognized curriculum.
The program is designed to provide children of different ages (4-15 years) the opportunity to learn Spanish in a rich, stimulating, and motivating environment that fosters enjoyment and curiosity. Children learn Spanish in a safe atmosphere where they feel comfortable and free to actively participate, with activities that are age-appropriate and adapted to student needs.
All program teachers are fully qualified and trained native-Spanish speakers. The curriculum develops communication skills through speaking, reading, listening, and writing, using popular culture, social trends, and current issues relevant to different age groups. Bilingual and heritage speakers are welcome, with specialized programs designed to meet their specific needs. Classes utilize textbooks and follow structured lesson plans.
In addition to regular group classes at their downtown center, Instituto Cervantes offers in-school programs, private classes, and online Spanish courses via Zoom. Research shows that children who learn a second language have higher rates of success in education and adult careers, and Spanish provides students with a competitive edge for future college admission and job placement in the emerging global economy.
