Profile
Sky Centers Martial Arts is a premier martial arts school and personal development center located at 112 West Saint Charles Road in downtown Lombard, Illinois, right near historic Lilacia Park and the Lombard Metra commuter station. Serving families across Lombard, Villa Park, Glen Ellyn, Elmhurst, Downers Grove, and Oakbrook Terrace, Sky Centers Martial Arts provides a welcoming, family-friendly training environment focused on physical fitness, practical self-defense, and emotional resilience. The spacious DuPage County facility features cushioned martial arts mats, heavy striking bags, kicking targets, and a comfortable spectator seating area where parents and relatives can watch classes.
The academy’s youth curriculum is divided into tailored age groups so every child trains alongside peers at a similar developmental stage. The Little Dragons program serves preschoolers and kindergartners ages 3 to 5, using playful movement drills and obstacle courses to build balance, coordination, gross motor skills, active listening, and classroom readiness. Kids Martial Arts classes welcome elementary and middle school children ages 6 to 12, teaching traditional martial arts techniques, forms, sparring fundamentals, and self-control while reinforcing academic focus and respect for parents and teachers. Teens Martial Arts classes for ages 13 and up give adolescents a positive social outlet to build physical strength, relieve stress, and develop self-worth and healthy decision-making skills, while Adult Martial Arts classes allow parents and adults to train in fitness and self-defense.
A standout feature of Sky Centers Martial Arts is its comprehensive suite of Specialty Programs designed to serve diverse family and community needs. Its signature Done With Bullying workshops teach children The Five Rules of Personal Safety, equipping young students to recognize, avoid, and de-escalate verbal and physical bullying using assertive posture and voice rather than aggression. The two-level Leadership Training program coaches students in public speaking, peer mentoring, responsibility, and goal setting. Additionally, the Special Abilities program offers adaptive, individualized martial arts instruction for children with special physical, developmental, learning, or sensory needs, led by a Chief Instructor who holds a Master’s degree in Education alongside a dedicated team of patient instructors.
During the summer break, Sky Centers Martial Arts hosts engaging Summer Camps that combine daily martial arts instruction with indoor and outdoor games, character-building challenges, arts and crafts, and social activities. Caregivers consistently praise the supportive, attentive coaching staff for helping shy, energetic, or anxious children build lasting self-confidence, physical coordination, and a strong sense of belonging. New students are welcomed into a structured beginner orientation where instructors introduce dojo etiquette, bowing traditions, uniform care, and safe partner drill habits so every child feels comfortable from their very first day on the mat. Belt testing ceremonies and stripe evaluations give caregivers regular milestones to celebrate their child’s physical and personal growth alongside fellow academy families.
