Dance Center Evanston is a premier dance studio dedicated to bringing quality dance training to each student enrolled, fostering their physical health, developing their cognitive skills, and inspiring creativity and artistry. The studio has been serving the Evanston community for over 30 years, providing dance education that lasts a lifetime while promoting good postural alignment, physical strength, and flexibility.
Dance Center Evanston offers programs for all ages and levels, starting with the Primary Division for ages 3-7, which provides a fun and encouraging introduction to the world of dance designed to engage young children in the learning process. The Student Division for ages 7+ and teens emphasizes proper posture, placement, and coordination, establishing the foundation for all future dance training. The Academy Division is a pre-professional program that is technically and artistically challenging, preparing dancers for training in college programs or professional settings.
The studio also offers drop-in classes for adults ages 18 and up, providing quality dance training in a positive and encouraging environment with the philosophy that life is a dance and everyone should live a little. Classes are available in multiple styles including ballet using the Cecchetti method, tap, hip-hop, modern dance, and accessible dance programs designed to be inclusive for students with different abilities.
Dance Center Evanston is home to the Evanston Dance Ensemble and ede2, giving dedicated students additional opportunities to create and perform. The ensemble presents productions throughout the season including The Young Choreographers Project, EDE Rocks!, and The Little Dancer at various venues including Studio5 and the Josephine Louis Theater. Special programs include a Boys Program, summer intensives, and the Summer Company performance opportunity.
The studio’s mission has always been grounded in foundational techniques while remaining open to new ways of moving, offering multiple performance opportunities such as the Annual Recital, Dance Performance Workshop, and Summer Company. Located at 1934 Dempster Street in Evanston, the center features professional facilities with multiple studios and welcomes students from throughout the North Shore area. The Fall 2025 session runs from January 5 through May 31, with the annual recital held at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie.
