Profile
New Traditions Riding Academy is a horseback riding instruction facility located at the historic Palos Hills Riding Stables property on 10100 South Kean Avenue in Palos Hills, Illinois. The academy has been serving the community for 64 years, maintaining a strong tradition of equestrian education and training. The facility recently completed major renovations including a rebuilt indoor arena with an exciting new look and a reconstructed school barn after losing the roof in the 2022 snowstorm.
The academy offers riding lessons for all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners to competitive riders. Students can learn horseback riding for recreational enjoyment or work toward competitive goals in horse shows. The program emphasizes that horseback riding is an activity that can be enjoyed throughout one’s entire life. Lessons are designed to make each rider the best they can be through personalized instruction and progressive skill development.
The academy operates comprehensive programming including regular weekly lessons, birthday party packages, summer riding camps for 2025, and special events. A youth group provides ongoing activities and social opportunities for young riders. The Academy Show Team offers opportunities for students interested in competitive riding and horse showing. A new Spring Horse Show event was introduced in 2025.
Special programs include Success in Saddles clinics, Medieval Times outings, and open house events throughout the year. The facility maintains a strong sense of community with what they describe as a “village” atmosphere among staff and members. Martha, who has been involved with the facility, emphasizes the importance of the amazing staff and barn community.
