Located at 220 E Chicago Avenue in downtown Chicago, the museum presents groundbreaking exhibitions featuring international and local artists working across all media including painting, sculpture, photography, video, film, dance, theater, music, and interactive art.
Current and upcoming exhibitions showcase works from acclaimed artists and movements, with rotating displays from the museum’s extensive permanent collection. The MCA offers educational programs including gallery tours, artist talks, workshops, and special events throughout the year. Family Days occur every second Saturday from October through May, providing free family activities with hands-on art projects and performances. Youth-led programming engages young people with contemporary art through unique perspectives.
The museum’s performance series On Stage presents visionary artists in dance, music, and interdisciplinary work from January through May each year. Educational workshops for teachers focus on topics like accessibility in the arts classroom. The museum features the D. Daskalopoulos Collection Gift, one of the most impactful donations in MCA history with over 100 significant works.
