Profile
Crouching Tigers is a story-based martial arts program designed specifically for children aged 2 to 7 years old. The program teaches essential LifeSkills and SafetyLessons through engaging weekly classes that blend captivating storytelling with traditional martial arts training techniques.
Founded by Olivia Roney Mitchell, a mother of four, Crouching Tigers equips young children with the tools they need to navigate their world safely and confidently during these formative years. By intertwining relatable narratives of seven Tiger characters with martial arts techniques, the program offers a gentle yet powerful way to impart essential safety and life skills.
Each class is jam-packed with fitness activities, character development, martial arts instruction, self-defense techniques, safety lessons, and games. The program focuses on building focus, fitness, self-control, confidence, and respect in a no-contact environment. Students learn practical and realistic self-defense techniques that are effective even for the youngest participants.
The two-year program is offered in childcare facilities, preschools, elementary schools, and community centers across Indiana and Illinois. Classes are held year-round and are led by certified instructors known as Senseis. Each unit of the program ends with a promotion ceremony featuring board breaking and rank promotion, allowing students to celebrate their achievements with friends and family.
The one-time registration fee includes a Crouching Tigers t-shirt, belt, gear bag, and parent guide. Tuition covers weekly classes, access to the Crouching Tigers app with on-demand programming, and three promotion ceremonies per year. The program makes it easier for families to integrate martial arts and safety education into their children’s daily routines.
