Profile
Lincoln Park Baseball Academy (LPBA) is a Chicago-based organization dedicated to baseball and softball instruction for all ages, operating as the city’s largest summer camp program for youth baseball and girls softball. Since its founding in 2011, over 5,000 young players have attended LPBA’s comprehensive camps and training programs.
The academy’s mission is to provide area players and coaches with resources for developing athletic potential through expert instruction, mentoring, and competition. LPBA’s professional coaching staff delivers training that covers all key baseball and softball skills including hitting, pitching, defense, base running, and team dynamics through both individual and group coaching programs.
Summer baseball and softball camps form the core of LPBA’s offerings, providing young athletes with challenging, fun, and educational experiences regardless of their skill level. Whether players are new to the game or have years of experience, the camps are structured to help each participant acquire skills needed to be successful and bring their game to the next level. The 2024 summer marked a record-breaking season for enrollment and participation.
Year-round programming extends beyond summer camps to include batting cage rentals at the LPBA facility, allowing players to practice hitting skills during Chicago’s colder months. Private and group lessons provide personalized instruction tailored to individual player needs and goals. The academy also operates a travel team program for competitive players seeking higher-level play and tournament experiences.
LPBA maintains strong connections with the baseball community, having hosted special clinics with professional players including former Chicago Cubs third baseman and four-time National League Batting Champion Bill Madlock, and participating in Legends for Youth baseball clinics that bring professional athletes together with young players. The academy also offers Father-Son Baseball Camps and other special event programming throughout the year.
Parent testimonials consistently highlight the dramatic improvement in children’s skills, the boost in confidence players experience, the patient and knowledgeable coaching staff led by Coach Steve Borg, the no-pressure environment that emphasizes learning and fun, and the positive impact on children’s enthusiasm for baseball. Parents appreciate that LPBA focuses not just on athletic development but on creating a love for the game.
The academy partners with numerous local organizations and schools, providing coaching support and instruction to community teams and park district programs. LPBA is supported by sponsors including Weissbluth Pediatrics, Horwitz Company, BMO Harris Bank, Bennett Day School, Altitude Chicago, and equipment partners like Mizuno, Louisville Slugger, and Pill Box Bat Company.
With facilities located conveniently for Chicago families and a strong reputation built over more than a decade of operation, Lincoln Park Baseball Academy continues to be a premier destination for young baseball and softball players seeking quality instruction in a supportive, encouraging environment.
