Profile
Play Street Museum South Loop is an interactive children’s museum designed for kids to explore big city living in a world that’s just their size. Located in the Roosevelt Collection Shops in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood, the museum offers immersive, hands-on exhibits and play experiences for children primarily ages 1-8.
Children can stroll through a small-scale city exploring interactive exhibits including a cafe where they can take orders, a doctor’s office for pretend checkups, a fire truck for saving the day, construction areas, and building zones with blocks. The museum emphasizes learning through play, providing educational experiences that help children develop essential social skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
The facility features a rotating Discovery Rug exhibit that changes monthly, focusing on notable figures, unique holidays, interesting cultures, and various educational themes. An art exploration station nurtures creativity, and a custom slime lab provides engaging sensory play experiences. Sensory kits are available for purchase to continue learning and fun at home.
Play Street Museum operates on a reservation-based playtime system Monday through Friday, with five 90-minute sessions offered daily at 8:30-10:00, 10:30-12:00, 12:30-2:00, 2:30-4:00, and 4:30-6:00. This system allows the museum to control capacity and thoroughly clean high-touch surfaces between sessions. Weekend playtimes and special events are also offered.
The museum hosts memorable birthday parties and field trips, providing exclusive access to the entire facility. Special Night at the Museum events stay open late during the week, and weekend events feature activities like pottery, canvas painting, dino digs, and space exploration.
Validated parking provides 2 hours free in the onsite Roosevelt Collection garage. The museum is a shoe-free, sock-only facility with free WiFi and baby changing stations available.
