Profile
Sean Phillips Soccer has operated premier soccer day camps and specialized training programs in Chicago for over 19 years, providing high-quality instruction for players of all ages and skill levels. Under the direction of University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Head Men’s Soccer Coach Sean Phillips, the program combines over 25 years of Division 1 collegiate coaching experience with a proven track record of player development.
The flagship Sean Phillips Soccer Day Camp takes place on the University of Illinois at Chicago South Campus Fields, offering an ideal setting for soccer instruction with newly renovated facilities including athletic fields, tennis and volleyball courts, and the PE Building with artificial turf surface. The camp is designed for boys and girls ages 4-14 and runs for four individual one-week sessions between June and July.
The Half Day option, available to campers ages 4-14, runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and teaches fundamental soccer skills through engaging soccer-related activities that lead to improved performance and greater enjoyment of the game. The Full Day option, for ages 5-14, extends from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with morning sessions focusing on technical development through individual and small group activities and games, while afternoon sessions expose players to tactical ideas using various small and large-sided games. Both options offer early drop-off beginning at 7:45 AM and late pick-up available until 5:30 PM.
The coaching staff comprises Coach Phillips’ UIC coaching staff, current and former players from the UIC Men’s and Women’s soccer programs, and select Chicago-area coaches. This ensures campers receive instruction from experienced players and coaches who understand the game at high levels. The teaching philosophy emphasizes that “the game belongs to the kids,” using technical training and game-based activities like soccer tennis and various sided games throughout the day.
Beyond day camps, Sean Phillips Soccer offers specialized programming including the College Prep Camp designed for high school or junior college males aspiring to play college soccer. This camp provides instruction and evaluation from UIC Men’s Soccer staff and select additional college coaches from Division 1, 2, 3, NAIA, and junior college levels, including a recruiting information session. Several participants from past College Prep Camps have joined the UIC roster.
The Shutout Roadshow provides specialized goalkeeper training for boys and girls ages 10-18 throughout the year. Coaches Sean Phillips and Stan Anderson, who have contributed to the success of goalkeepers at youth, high school, collegiate, professional, and international levels, lead these focused training sessions.
