Sister-Arts Studio is a specialized fiber arts education center in Chicago offering comprehensive programs in knitting, weaving, crochet, dyeing, felting, and other textile crafts. The studio provides a welcoming space where students of all ages and skill levels can explore traditional and contemporary fiber techniques through hands-on instruction. The knowledgeable instructors guide participants through various projects from beginner-friendly introductions to advanced textile arts.
The studio runs extensive summer camp programs spanning seven weeks from June through August, offering both half-day and full-day options with different fiber art focuses each session. Camp activities include yarn dyeing with food coloring and professional dyes, embroidery and sewing projects, needle felting, spinning fiber into yarn, weaving on rigid heddle looms, vintage rug hooking, knitting and crochet instruction, macrame wall hangings, silk painting, and creating room dรฉcor and wearable art. Each camp session features morning and afternoon projects allowing students to explore multiple techniques.
Beyond summer programming, Sister-Arts offers afterschool clubs for ongoing fiber arts education, adult classes in various techniques, private instruction for individuals and groups, and an Isager Retreat for intensive knitting experiences. The studio also operates a retail shop selling quality yarns, kits, tools, accessories, books, patterns, and fiber art supplies. Students create take-home projects throughout their time at the studio, building skills and confidence in textile arts.
