Smart Love Family Services is a nonprofit organization providing relationship-based mental health counseling, early childhood education, therapeutic tutoring, and parenting support programs to children, adolescents, parents, and families throughout the Chicago area. Founded in 2002, the organization has served over 8,000 families with gentle, non-pressured approaches based on Intrapsychic Humanism principles recognizing that all people have an innate desire for inner well-being, happiness, and positive connections.
The organization operates multiple programs including individual and family counseling services, psychological testing and assessments, play therapy for children, The Natalie G. Heineman Smart Love Preschool featuring project-based play curriculum, therapeutic tutoring and learning support, and community education programs. The main Chicago location at 2222 N Kedzie Boulevard houses both counseling services and the preschool, while an additional Oak Park office provides counseling services. The preschool emphasizes developing a love for learning through hands-on exploration and creative play.
Smart Love offers specialized programs including It Takes A Village, a free program for parents and children of color with separate biweekly Saturday group sessions addressing unique challenges and providing support, knowledge, and encouragement. Counseling professionals hold advanced degrees in clinical social work, clinical psychology, professional counseling, and marriage and family therapy, specializing in child and adolescent development and treatment. Services accept various insurance plans and offer sliding scale fees.
