Profile
Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park & Theatre is a premier venue for arts, culture, and community gatherings in Joliet and Will County, Illinois. The park hosts a diverse lineup of City-produced and partner-presented programs and events throughout the year, ranging from concerts and festivals to performances and community celebrations.
The venue features an outdoor bandshell with a natural viewing hill and expansive surrounding grounds that can accommodate audiences of up to 5,000 people, while the 300-seat indoor theatre provides an intimate setting for performances, cultural programming, and special events. The theatre is home to the Joliet Drama Guild, which serves as Theater in Residence, producing three mainstage shows and leading youth programs including the popular Summertime on Stage and Winter Drama Camp.
Bicentennial Park Theatre provides drama classes and tech camps for children of all ages, offering comprehensive theatre education that teaches script work, theater techniques, terminology, singing, and dancing, along with designing costumes, props, lighting, and sound according to each student’s level of interest and ability. Each camp culminates in a musical finale for public performance.
The park also hosts signature events including free Concerts on the Hill every Thursday night in June, July, and August, Independence Eve Fireworks, and various cultural celebrations. The facility is available for private rentals and cultural partnerships, offering flexible spaces for meetings, performances, celebrations, and community use. All camps are inclusive, with approximately 20% of participants from the disabled population, and the organization works regularly with Special Recreation Joliet/Channahon and the Kiwanis Aktion Club.
