Profile
Johnson’s Farm Produce has been selling fresh-grown fruits and vegetables in Northwest Indiana since the 1940s when Ethel Johnson nailed a sign on an old oak tree to sell extra vegetables from the family garden. Today, it has grown into one of the largest family-owned and operated farms in the Midwest, with at least three generations working on the farm daily.
The farm specializes in growing almost everything they sell, from gardening plants to produce in the market. This allows produce to ripen on the vine and be picked at peak flavor and nutritional value. The farm offers extensive u-pick options throughout the seasons including strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, watermelons, and various vegetables.
Johnson’s Fun Farm was established in 2017, offering festivals during various seasons with over 40 activities for the whole family. The garden center features hanging baskets, perennials, flowers, and specialty containers, with over 95% of plants grown right in their greenhouses. Festival weekends include strawberry, blueberry, watermelon, raspberry, sunflower, and pumpkin festivals.
The farm provides field trips and birthday party options, making it an ideal destination for educational visits and celebrations. During fall, visitors can enjoy the pumpkin patch, corn maze, and various farm activities. The farm is located at 8960 East Ridge Road in Hobart, Indiana, just a short drive from the Illinois border.
