Profile
Steve & Kate’s Camp offers a revolutionary approach to summer and holiday day camps for children ages 4-12, with multiple locations throughout the Chicago area including Bucktown, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, North Center, West Loop, Wicker Park, as well as Evanston and Lake Forest. The camp’s unique philosophy centers on empowering children through choice-based learning, where campers select their own activities, decide whom to do them with, and determine how long to engageโcreating an environment of pure joy and independence that serves as essential training for life.
Camp operates from 8:00am to 6:00pm daily during the summer (June through early August), with some locations also offering spring break and holiday camps. The innovative activities menu includes stop-motion animation, coding on iPads, robotics with leading-edge technology, sewing salon with custom fabrics, bakery where kids create sweet and savory baked goods, tinker lab with arts and crafts plus 3D pens, media lab featuring music production in GarageBand and digital art, sports and recreation with athletic equipment and team games, lounge and library spaces, and water play activities. Weekly specials add excitement with rotating experiences like giant inflatables, musical performances, movement workshops, and special events. Traditional Steve & Kate’s customs include Find Chuckie (the elusive rubber chicken) and Friday Pie-Day celebrations.
The camp provides ultimate flexibility for busy families with unprecedented convenience features: purchase any number of Day Passes or a Summer Pass and use them any day without advance notice; enjoy completely flexible drop-off and pick-up times within camp hours; automatic refunds for all unused passes at summer’s end; and all-inclusive pricing covering lunch, healthy snacks, and all activities with no hidden fees. The camp partners with favorite local restaurants to provide mouth-watering, nourishing meals including options for various dietary needs (vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free). All food provided is nut-free.
Youngest Camper Support Staff are dedicated specifically to helping younger children discover their independence and camp confidence. All staff members are background-checked and trained in CPR and first aid. The camp’s mission is to give children the freedom they desperately need to expand and evolve while providing parents with hardcore convenience and peace of mind. Financial aid is available, and the camp accepts Bright Horizons back-up care benefits.
