Profile
Steve & Kate’s Camp – Lakeview is a summer day camp operating out of Audubon Elementary in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, serving children ages 4 through 12 with a self-directed camp philosophy that has been the hallmark of the Steve & Kate’s brand since 1980. The Lakeview location provides an expansive facility with ample indoor and outdoor space, making it well-suited for a wide range of activities regardless of weather conditions.
Campers at the Lakeview location enjoy complete freedom to choose their activities throughout the day, selecting from options that include a Media Lab featuring stop-motion animation and coding projects, a Sewing Salon for creative textile work, a Bakery where kids learn real cooking and baking skills, and a full complement of sports, recreation, and water games. Weekly special events rotate throughout the summer and may include inflatable slip-and-slides, hip-hop dance workshops, inflatable axe throwing, and science-themed dance sessions, keeping the experience fresh and exciting week after week.
The camp uses Steve & Kate’s signature flexible enrollment model. Families purchase Day Passes that can be used on any day at any open location without advance notice, or they can opt for a Summer Pass covering the entire season. All pass types include lunch, snacks, and the full camp day from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with unused passes automatically refunded at summer’s end. The Lakeview camp runs from approximately early June through early August. A Mentorship Program is also available at select locations for teens ages 14-15 who want to develop leadership skills while experiencing camp life. Bright Horizons Back-Up Care benefits are accepted, and need-based financial aid is available.
