Profile
Dominion Martial Arts—widely known across the Fox Valley community as an Institute of Mentorship—is a youth and adult mixed martial arts academy located at 150 Kendall Point Drive, Unit B, in Oswego, Illinois. Serving families from Oswego, Aurora, Montgomery, Yorkville, Naperville, Plainfield, and Sugar Grove, Dominion Martial Arts approaches martial arts instruction as a purposeful vehicle for character mentorship, emotional maturity, and lifelong physical wellness. The Oswego training facility is outfitted with professional grappling and striking mats, heavy bags, Thai pads, focus mitts, and a welcoming spectator area where caregivers can observe training sessions and speak directly with the coaching staff.
Unlike traditional single-discipline karate studios, Dominion Martial Arts teaches a comprehensive, age-appropriate Mixed Martial Arts curriculum that blends foundational elements of Boxing, Muay Thai kickboxing, Wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Every youth class is carefully structured to develop both athletic capability and personal accountability, concluding with signature mat chats where coaches lead interactive group discussions on integrity, emotional regulation, respect at home, standing up to negative peer pressure, and resilience in the face of setbacks. Rather than simply handing out belts for attendance, coaches mentor students to earn rank promotions through demonstrated character, technical mastery, humility, and consistent effort both on and off the mats.
Youth programming begins with the Lion Clubs division for young children ages 4 to 6, where preschoolers and kindergartners build agility, balance, spatial awareness, and listening habits through structured martial arts drills and high-energy games. The Kids Mixed Martial Arts program serves elementary students ages 7 to 12, teaching practical stand-up striking combinations, footwork, takedown defense, and ground control alongside bully-proofing strategies that emphasize calm confidence and verbal de-escalation. Teen Mixed Martial Arts classes for ages 13 and older help adolescents build functional strength, athletic conditioning, and self-assurance alongside adult Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programs.
During the summer season, Dominion Martial Arts hosts action-packed DMA Summer Camps, including its Rank Advancement Camp—where students immerse themselves in intensive martial arts technique, positional sparring drills, and leadership mentorship—and its outdoor Ninja Camp, which takes campers into local parks and nature areas for obstacle courses, team-building challenges, and outdoor athletic adventures. Caregivers appreciate the academy’s mentorship-first culture, approachable coaching staff, and dedication to raising confident, respectful, and disciplined young leaders. New students are welcomed into a structured beginner orientation where instructors introduce dojo etiquette, bowing traditions, uniform care, and safe partner drill habits so every child feels comfortable from their very first day on the mat. Belt testing ceremonies and stripe evaluations give caregivers regular milestones to celebrate their child’s physical and personal growth alongside fellow academy families.
