Profile
Wiz Kids Camps is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and premier summer day camp that has been enriching the lives of Chicagoland youth since 2009. The Western Suburbs campus is a newer addition to the Wiz Kids family, hosted at Westmont High School at 909 Oakwood Drive in Westmont, Illinois. This location was established to bring the full Wiz Kids experience to families in the western suburbs, serving the communities of Westmont, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Burr Ridge, Downers Grove, Darien, and surrounding areas with the same high-quality blend of academic enrichment, competitive athletics, and creative programming that the organization is known for.
The camp serves students entering grades 1 through 8, corresponding to approximately ages 6 through 14, with age-appropriate curriculum designed for each group. All campers in grades 1 through 4 participate in engaging reading and math courses each morning Monday through Thursday, aligned with the grade they are entering in the fall and taught by certified Illinois educators. These academic sessions are designed to prevent summer learning loss while building essential literacy and numeracy skills through interactive, hands-on instruction. Rising 5th through 8th graders participate in Innovation Labs, interdisciplinary modules that blend two related subjects together for deeper exploration. These include Culinary Arts paired with Entrepreneurship, Creative Writing paired with Drama, Engineering paired with Coding and Game Design, Fashion Design paired with Visual Arts, STEM paired with Media Arts, Financial Literacy paired with Debate and Public Speaking, Music and Sound Engineering paired with Photography, and Architecture paired with Environmental Science. All students also select three electives from a diverse menu that includes soccer, tennis, swimming, tumbling, track, dance, cheerleading, basketball, golf, engineering, art, and drama. Each sport and elective is taught by highly qualified and engaging staff trained in the Wiz Kids methodology.
Camp operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the camp season running from approximately June 1 through July 31. The camp is closed on June 19 and July 3 for holidays. Before care is available from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM and after care from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, each priced at $100 for the season. Every Friday is Field Trip Day, with all campers traveling to Chicago-area cultural destinations including the Shedd Aquarium, Art Institute of Chicago, Brookfield Zoo, Children’s Museum, ClimbZone, Pelican Harbor, the SlooMoo Institute, the Museum of Illusions, and other exciting venues. All field trips are included in tuition. Tuition is based on the number of weeks enrolled, with early bird pricing available through late March 2026. Early bird rates range from approximately $295 per week for a full nine-week commitment up to $475 per week for a two-week enrollment. Standard rates are slightly higher, starting at $325 per week for nine weeks. A $50 registration fee applies, and camp fees include a free t-shirt. Sibling discounts are available.
The program employs certified teachers, experienced coaches, and trained associates who maintain a low staff-to-camper ratio of approximately 1 to 16. All staff undergo background checks and specialized safety training, and a certified nurse is on-site at all times. Parents receive regular updates on their child’s progress and can contact camp staff at any point. Wiz Kids also offers specialty programs beyond the core summer experience, including Camp University for advanced academic exploration, a Winter Escape trip to Wisconsin, and the Wiz Kids Flight Academy. The organization is committed to providing environments where young people can have life-impacting experiences that build confidence, inspire curiosity, and create lasting friendships.
