Profile
Chicago Rhythmics is a specialized rhythmic gymnastics training center offering programs for girls ages 3 and older at three convenient Chicago locations: South Loop, West Loop, and Lincoln Park. The organization provides both recreational classes and competitive team training, delivered by professional coaches including former Olympians and USA Gymnastics certified members.
Rhythmic gymnastics is a unique sport that combines elements of ballet, dance, gymnastics, and apparatus manipulation using rope, hoop, ribbon, clubs, and ball. The program promotes developing coordination, poise, grace, confidence, strength, power, flexibility, agility, dexterity, endurance, musical ability, harmony, and rhythm. Training also builds discipline, develops courage, and encourages creativity while allowing gymnasts to express themselves in individualized ways.
Classes are divided by age and skill level: Rhythmic Beginners (ages 3-4) introduces the sport in a fun and playful format; Rhythmic Beginners/Intermediate (ages 5-6) focuses on developing flexibility, strength, stamina, and coordination; Rhythmic Intermediate (ages 6+) refines basic skills and introduces routines with equipment set to music. The competitive team program is optional for gymnasts ages 6 and older who wish to participate in USAG sanctioned events and competitions.
Most classes are offered on an 8-week session basis with pre-registration required. Class schedules vary by location with sessions offered Monday through Saturday at different times. The South Loop location operates at Chicago Women’s Park & Gardens (1801 S Indiana Ave) and Second Presbyterian Church (1936 S Michigan Ave). The West Loop location operates at Union Park District (1541 W Lake St) and Chicago Children’s Theatre (100 S Racine Ave). The Lincoln Park location operates at Menomonee Club for Boys & Girls (1535 N Dayton St) and Athenaeum Theater (2936 N Southport Ave).
